Imogen (I-M-O-G-E-N)

Music of Sally Greenaway
Commissioned by Lim Hur

I-M-O-G-E-N celebrates a 30th birthday with a piece that is lyrical, gentle, and uplifting. It is a special gift commissioned by a mother for her daughter.

The piece was commissioned to feature the cello, an instrument Imogen played for many years. She grew up enjoying music and singing and has performed in concerts at Carnegie Hall NY and Southwark Cathedral London thanks to ensembles including Vox Anima and The Resonants, and studied cello with David Pereira.

Australian composer Sally Greenaway mapped the letters of Imogen's name to the notes of the A major scale to create a theme motif, which is woven throughout the piece. Imogen's middle name, 'Bo' (precious), inspires the atmosphere and an intricate delicateness for the piece.

Australian Cellist David Pereira delivers a very personal, heart-warming and lyrical performance, accompanied by the composer on piano.
